Jab We Met (2007)

This movie was delightful.  I wanted to show my little brother a Bollywood, since he already likes other genres that I love (such as K-dramas and Kung Fu movies).  We just decided on this one because it was in my queue on Netflix and we wanted something cheerful cause he was feeling meh that day.  I always love Shahid Kapoor and although his hair wasn't as sexy in this one, every time he smiles it makes up for that.

Kareena Kapoor was awesome in this too.

It's about a man named Aditya who is so depressed about his life and lost love that he gets on a train just wandering, maybe considering suicide, but then meets a fast talking slightly crazy Punjabi girl named Geet, who is actually trying to elope with her boyfriend.  When her concern for him missing the train when he decides to get off makes her miss the train then they are stuck together for a bit as she forces him to get her safely back to Punjab, since because of him she is stranded with no money or luggage.  Naturally they have a bunch of adventures together and misunderstandings when her family assumes they are lovers upon arrival.

It is just a hilarious movie, very upbeat and delightful.  It's all about how they both helped each other during that time of need when they were about to give up on love.  It's a beautiful friendship story and a beautiful love story.  It gives lots of happy feels, even if Geet is that "manic pixie stardust girl" that my roommate is always complaining about.  Whatever.  She's great.
