Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)
I couldn't not watch this show. It's got Shahrukh, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Seriously good popular actors. It was a statement of the importance of family, love, and against social classes and stubbornness.
So it starts out with Hrithik being hot and awesome and then him and his grannies all sad because his older brother Shahrukh is not with them. Granny tells story. Flash back to when Shahrukh was there and they were one big happy family. Shahrukh is adopted, but they all love each other, until he falls in love with Kajol who is a spirited lower class girl. The dad (Amitabh Bachchan) thinks he's in love with Rani (nice little cameo) and then gets really mad when he finds out it's Kajol. Shahrukh can't give her up and ends up marrying her when her father dies. Amitabh gets mad and disowns him, so he leaves. Like tenish years pass. Hrithik vows to bring his brother back, and then goes to carry out his plan. Kareena (Kajol's sister) helps.
Kareena is so fabulously funny in this one. Her character is like queen bee and she loves to put on heirs, but she is just a good little mischievous girl at heart. She has Hrithik have good chemistry too, bantering back and forth, etc. And of course the golden couple of Shahrukh and Kajol are together once more. And when real husband and wife are playing the parents, it's just great. It was a good, sweet, funny movie. Well worth the all star cast. Also that classic "transport to Eqypt for the dance number." Actually, there are so many good song and dance numbers. I really loved this movie, even though there were several really sad part. It all boils down to families and families being forever and stop being stubborn dudes.
Favorite Song:
