This film has some stellar actors, great songs (and dance numbers), and good character growth. Aamir Khan stole the show for me at first, but upon re-watching it later I really appreciated Saif Ali Khan's lovable little butterfly character. Aamir's character is the least mature at the beginning, not believing in love or being serious in anything, and has the most to learn maybe. Preity Zinta's plays opposite him, with an opposite character as well, as the girl who loves romance.
Saif's character falls in love fast and can't seem to get a break when it comes to his girlfriends staying with him for long, but he manages to play the silly character sympathetically and showing plenty of growth and some maturity.
If there was anything to not like in this show, it was the slow pace. Because there were three different story lines as the three friends went there separate way, this broke the pace down a bit, especially as one of the story lines is less than exciting. Poor Akshaye Khanna had the lamest story line, but played it well. His character is maybe the most mature at the start, but still has time for plenty of development, and room for plenty of tears.
All in all, this was a great first for me, giving me a good taste of a good Bollywood. Plus there is the added bonus of Aamir Khan's rubber torso dance moves and Saif Ali Khan still looking hot in tight silver pants... yeow.
