Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (2008)

Saved myself by going back to the power coupling of Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji!  This film is like a mash up of Nanny McPhee, Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music, as it's the magical nanny coming to save the day story.

Just from the title and promo posters, it looks like a comedy, but seriously, this movie had me almost to tears from the opening sequence, which is the back story of Ranbeer (our Captain Von Trapp type character) and why he turned into a stern, angry, unfeeling father figure.  Saif once again makes the character very sympathetic and realistic (and sexy).  Seriously.  Plus he really does the sexy with his three piece suits, purple shirts and not wearing a shirt to bed.  For a kids movie he really doesn't wear a shirt that often... not that I'm complaining.

Rani plays the angel nanny who comes to save the day.  She's an actual angel sent by God to in an answer to the four kid's prayers to save them from the mean man they have to live with now that their parents are gone.  This might be the cheesiest part of the show, and you have to be open to their interpretation of deity, but it's actually very respectful even while being one of the comedic points of the show.

The magic special effects aren't the best, but they aren't horrible either, and for a movie about kids, it does a good job not turning into Home Alone or any other "kids have too much power and make fools out of adults" type movie.  Especially since the Angel is not sent just to save the kids, but to save Ranbeer too.  It is good because it shows how everyone needs to change and open their hearts to make relationships work.

So this is a kids movie.  It really is.  But then this happens.  Ok... that's... weird... oh well, I guess.  That's pretty sexy for a kids movie... even if you are making fun of it at the same time.

I also loved how good of actors the kids are; I especially liked Iqbal, who is adorable.

Favorite Song (seriously made my sad every time it played):
Kabhi Socha Hai Kya

Favorite Dance:
Nihal Ho Gayi
