Salaam Namaste (2005)

Have you ever seen that 1995 Hugh Grant/Julianne Moore movie Nine Months?  Well, Salaam Namaste has a pretty similar plot.  It's kind of a hard plot to enjoy, but with Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta, it is at least well made.

With the plot comes a lot of yelling and being angry as the troubles begin, which is sad after all the cute falling in love part, but inevitable concerning the situation.  Saif and Preity have good chemistry and make it very believable.  Nick (Saif) and Amber (Preity) are living in Melbourne, Australia and hate each other at first meeting, which is just over the phone.  When they hit it off in real life its kind of fun, and even when they figure out who they other is, they manage to fall in love.  Then comes the drama (and yelling) and then the reconciliation, and then the end turns kind of cheesy.  Still, I did not regret watching it, and it's a very good film with a lot of good songs and a lot of yelling (which is apparently not my favorite).

Warning: This is a very scandalous by typical standards.  Where there is usually not even a kiss, this film has plenty of kissing (and a bit further), which seems rated R by typical Bollywood standards, but is probably only PG-13 by Hollywood standards.  It wasn't my first Bollywood with a kiss (as Hum Tum clearly had multiple kisses in it) but it is probably the most scandalous I've seen to date.

An added bonus is the "Crocodile Dundee" character Jaggu Yadav, played by Jaaved Jaffrey, who is really funny.
