Dil To Pagal Hai (1997)
I don't want to say that this was just another film that I watched just because of Shahrukh... but it kinda is. It's been a couple of years, and I honestly don't remember much about it, mostly just that I watched it and it wasn't too bad. So after refreshing my memory I will expound.
So it's a dancing movie, about this dance troupe where Rahul (Shahrukh) and Nisha (Karisma Kapoor) are besties, but that only means that one of them (Nisha in this case) is secretly in love with the other one (Rahul). But if I was her I would have a secret crush on Shahrukh's character too. Rahul is going to direct a musical, but with weird standards on who will play the lead. Then there is a bunch of fateful near misses and connections and Pooja (Madhuri Dixit) pops in. She's an orphan who likes to dance too. At first they don't hit it off, then she does this little traditional dance and it's all "ahhhh." Also Nisha gets an injury and so loses out by default. Boo for her.
So there are multiple love triangles as Ajay (Akshay Kumar) pops up as Pooja's fiance and things get all complicated. I mostly remember feeling the most sad for Nisha, as she is obviously not the one from the start, but in true Bollywood form she is taken care of at the end and she proves to be practically a saint in helping peeps get together, whatnot. Also as Kareena Kapoor's sister she had more dancing talent (in my opinion). Their family resemblance is quite good. I think that when I first watched the movie I thought she was Kareena and had to look it up to confirm that she wasn't. But that was only in the first couple of minutes. I think that might have been another one of my reasons for watching the movie... as if I needed any others besides Shahrukh... please.
There was this dramatic muddy rain scene. I remember liking that part. Also since it is a dancing movie specifically, there were lots of good dances.
