Ra.One (2011)

Shahrukh Khan AND it's a Bollywood Sci-Fi.  Cool.

I was actually really impressed with this film, not really knowing to expect in a Sci-fi movie.  Plus from the description, it looked like Shahrukh would be playing some kind of video game hero.  Nice!

It was a bit different then the description made me think.  Once again Shahrukh made me cry... at the very beginning no less.  Why!!!!!!!!!

So Shahrukh is a video game programmer/designer and he is always trying to impress and make his son happy.  He also has really bad curly hair at the beginning.  So to impress his son he makes a video game that develops according to the players abilities, it's like a virtual reality type game connected to movements, etc.  He also, coincidentally makes the hero of the video game, G.One, look just like him.  Then the video game becomes reality and the villain of the game, Ra.One, becomes real, and wants to defeat the son, who left the game without finishing it.  So then the hero has to come alive too, so now we have a robot-like video game hero Shahrukh too, as well as a totally hot, bad-a video game villain, Ra.One (Arjun Rampal).

The special effects were really cool, with Ra.One being able to reassemble himself out of these cool red glowing blocks, and G.One being able to similarly put himself back together with the blue block, although he doesn't have as many cool abilities as Ra.One, who can also take other forms and disguises.

Also there is a great scene where the kid is playing with the motion sensor controls, which work to control the real life G.One, which gets pretty funny as G.One was interacting with the mother (Kareena Kapoor), who then gets weirded out.

It's a good film with a lot of everything, just like most good Bollywoods.  Major props to Shahrukh for playing such a good robot type deal.
