I Hate Luv Stories (2010)
This is supposed to be something of a spoof of the typical or classic Bollywood love stories, but the only part I liked of this whole movie was the part at the very beginning where it showed the romantic scenes from all of the most famous romance films, starting with DDLJ all the way through Hum Tum, Kuch Kuch, and so on. You know, the really good ones that everyone should love, and then the movie proceeds to be super lame.
So lame that I've still not gotten over my dislike for Imran Khan. I really shouldn't dislike him since I only hated his character, but I've still yet to watch another Imran Khan film, so I haven't found a reason to like him yet.
In fact, I don't think I've finished watching this movie actually. It was so dumb and predictable that I was just too done with it to keep watching. It's supposed to be commenting on romance movies, but then falls into every single lame romance trope that I really can't stand.
Jay (Imran Khan) works in the film industry, with a famous romance director, but hates love stories so much. He like doesn't believe in love or something. Simran (Sonam Kapoor) loves romance so much. She's even engaged to a dude named Raj (which is a blatant quote for the famous DDLJ couple Raj and Simran). They are forced to work together and naturally hate each other, especially since they are like polar opposites on the love spectrum. We all see where this is going, right? He is a butt, so he decides to prove to her that love is a fake, and that her little dream world is fake and stuff. So, they fall in love. Big shock there.
One of my pet peeves is love stories where the main girl is already engaged to a sweet guy, but still chooses to fall in love with the bad boy. I don't know why, but I really hate that cliche. I'm ok if the fiance is a douche bag/jerk/arranged marriage/etc. But if the guy is nice and really the only reason that he loses is because the girl decides to first be friends and then fall in love with another guy so he has to be the nice guy and bow out, then no. I hate that. It's ok if she was already in love with the other man (such as Anjeli dumping her fiance in Kuch Kuch) because that was inevitable, but if she dumps him for a guy she met later, that's so not cool.
So, it about got to that point when I stopped. Watch this at your own peril, because I do not recommend it. No. Very bad.
