So I actually tried watching this one several times before I actually made it all the way through. It's just a bit cheesy and you need to be in the mood for cheesy to want to watch it. I happened to have a friend who loved cheesiness. Her favorite thing to watch was Disney Channel, which I believe makes you stupider the longer you watch it. It's quite bad. Honestly, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai is way better than the Disney Channel. It's not too bad really, just a bit cheesy.
So I was like "I'm going to watch a Bollywood?" and she said "I want to watch with you!" so I let her help me pick. She picked the cheesiest options. Well, without that I might not of had the motivation to finish this. But it really gets better after the first little bit. I liked it. It's like sorta based off of My Best Friend's Wedding, a bit.
So Uday Chopra plays this dude who can't seem to get over his first love. He even lives with a girl he once dated who is now his best friend, and she calls him out on his inability to get over his first love which ruined their relationship and friend-zoned her for life. Then he finds out his first love is getting married and, with a good push from his friend, he goes back to India to steal the bride away- effectively to ruin the wedding.
So (I think I have to begin every paragraph with 'so' in this post) there are some shenanigans and evil plots, which made me a bit frustrated. No one likes the hero to turn into a jerk to get his way. Plus, the girls' fiance is played by Jimmy Shergill who is HOT!!!!!! But unlike DDLJ, which has a similar sort of steal the bride away, this fiance is also a pretty nice guy, so I felt sad for him half the time. My favorite twist was when his friend shows up to lend support and everyone immediately assumes she's the main dude's girlfriend, and then the first love gets jealous. That was pretty funny.
